Changes to Your Selfreliance Debit Card:

We are pleased to announce enhancements to Selfreliance Federal Credit Union's debit cards, designed to elevate your banking experience. These upgrades focus on improved online management capabilities while maintaining the same great service, now even better.

You will receive a new debit card in the weeks leading up to August 7th, 2024. As of August 7th, 2024, you will no longer be able to use your current debit card and may activate and begin using your new debit card. We are dedicated to facilitating a seamless transition for you during this exciting period of change.

Please note, if your card number starts with 41306600, you will not receive a new card. You may continue using your current card.

What You Should Know

  • Your NEW Selfreliance FCU Visa® Debit Card with new card number, expiration date, and CVV code will be mailed to you on or before August 7th, 2024.
  • Starting on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, you will need to activate your new card and create a PIN by calling 800-631-3197 from your primary phone number.
  • You will need to update your recurring payments with the details of your NEW Selfreliance FCU Visa® Debit Card.
  • There will be no changes to your checking account.

How to Activate Your New Debit Card

Follow these 3 steps for a smooth transition:

1. Activate Your New Debit Card

Starting on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, activate your new card and create a PIN by calling 800-631-3197 from your primary phone number.

2. Out With The Old

Destroy your old Selfreliance FCU Visa® Debit Card once your new card is activated, as the old card will stop working on August 7th, 2024.

3. Switch

Update your recurring payments with the details of your NEW card. This is a great opportunity to review each subscription and consider whether it continues to serve your needs. If not, it might be a good idea to cancel it to save money.

Services to review: home utilities, gym memberships, streaming services, online shopping accounts, meal delivery services, newspaper and magazine subscriptions, tollway account, cloud storage and software subscriptions.

Why am I receiving a new debit card?
We are upgrading our cards to improve the services we offer you. As a result, a new card will be issued. Please note, if your card number starts with 41306600, you will not receive a new card. You may continue using your current card.
Will my new debit card be delivered by mail?
Yes! If you’re unsure, please call us at 888-222-8571 or visit your closest branch to confirm your mailing address and contact information are current.
What if I didn’t receive a new debit card?
If you do not receive a new debit card by Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, please call us at 888-222-8571.
When can I start using the new debit card?
Please activate and begin using your new card on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024. You will receive full instructions on how to activate your new card in the mail with your new card.
What number should I call to activate my new debit card?
Starting on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, activate your new card and create a PIN by calling 800-631-3197 from your primary phone number.
Will I have a new PIN to access cash with my new debit card?
You will no longer receive a PIN in the mail, and your old PIN will not work with the new card. You can select your unique PIN by calling 888-886-0083 from your primary phone choosing the PIN option.
My existing card does not expire for a while. Can I continue using it until it expires?
No. Your existing card will not work effective August 7th, 2024, and you will be sent a new card beforehand. Instructions will come with your new card to ensure it is ready to use on August 7th, 2024.

Do I need to update my new debit card in my digital wallet?
Yes, your new debit card will have a new card number, expiration date, and CVV code. If you need help adding your new card to your digital wallet, please visit our website's Digital Banking page for detailed instructions.
Do I still have access to the extensive ATM network with my new debit card?
Absolutely! We encourage you to use our 85,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide to withdraw cash. Use our ATM locator in your Selfreliance app or on selfreliance.com.
What do I need to do if I have preauthorized, or recurring payments tied to my existing Selfreliance debit card?
To ensure there is no interruption in recurring or preauthorized payments (such as home utilities, gym memberships, streaming services, online shopping accounts, meal delivery services, newspaper and magazine subscriptions, tollway accounts, cloud storage, and software subscriptions), contact the merchant on or after August 7th, 2024, with your new card number, expiration date, and CVV code.
What should I do with my old debit card?
You should destroy the old card AFTER you activate and start using your new card.
