Super Saver Club and the SFCU School Rewards Program

September 9th, 2019

The 2019-2020 school year has begun, and Selfreliance FCU is once again involved in helping our Ukrainian schools teach students to be thrifty and to save for their future needs.

Selfreliance offers basic custodian accounts for children, under the Uniform Gifts to Minors Act. It also offers Coverdell Education Savings Accounts.

Selfreliance Federal Credit Union has been working with our Ukrainian parochial and Saturday Schools to encourage its young members to save. Children are enrolled in the Super Savers Club when their parents open an account for them. They then qualify for gifts and prizes. When the students identify the Ukrainian heritage school they attend, the school can also benefit. The program is available at all SFCU locations, in Illinois, Michigan and New Jersey.

Selfreliance designates a code for each Ukrainian parochial or Saturday School. Students should identify their school when opening an account and enrolling it in the Super Savers Club. If they already have an account at Selfreliance, they can ask the SFCU representative to add the correct code to their account. If a Super Savers Club member does not attend a Ukrainian Schools, s/he can qualify for the prize drawing at the branch office where they opened their account.

At the end of each school year, SFCU tallies the number of Super Saver Club members at each Ukrainian School and donates funds in support of the school. The donation is based on the number of accounts, not on the amount deposited.
