Selfreliance FCU extends a helping hand during the pandemic
As the Covid-19 pandemic swept through the Selfreliance FCU service areas in Illinois, Michigan and New Jersey, our community life come to a standstill. Selfreliance Federal Credit Union and The Selfreliance Foundation realized that our Ukrainian churches and other community organizations, as well as our members, were in need of financial assistance in this critical time.
The Selfreliance Foundation provided $128,000 in donations to Ukrainian churches, as well as youth organizations, in the three states that comprise our service area.
Selfreliance also received a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, with which it has a relationship, to mitigate the effect of the crisis. The $20,000 grant was disbursed to churches, cultural institutions, and youth organizations.
Selfreliance FCU also participated in the Paycheck Protection Program, issuing SBA Loans to small businesses and other institutions, so they could continue to meet their payroll and cover other expenses. Selfreliance originated $3.5 million in SBA Loans, including $864,000 for churches and other not-for-profit organizations. If all the requirements imposed by the government are met, these loans are eligible for 100% forgiveness under the terms of the Paycheck Protection Program.
Under government orders to “shelter in place,” Selfreliance FCU continued to serve its member-owners, with limited access to tellers, on-line and telephone services and an enhanced member service help line. The credit union also donated some 6,000 masks to our sponsoring associations in Illinois, Michigan, and New Jersey, for distribution to the communities served by the credit union.
Selfreliance Federal Credit Union offices have reopened, taking all necessary precautions to preserve the health of its employees and members.
We believe that our cooperation and assistance provided a crucial benefit to our community institutions and churches, and to our members, in this difficult time. We encourage more people to use our credit union as their primary financial institution, so that we can continue to grow and provide even more support our community organizations. We look forward to better times ahead.

Коли пандемія Covid-19 прокотилася світом та торкнулася обслуговування УФКС “Самопоміч“ в Ілліной, Мічіґані та Нью-Джерзі, життя нашої громади зайшло у “глухий кут“. УФКС “Самопоміч“ та Фундація “Самопоміч“ зрозуміли, що наші українські церкви, інші громадські організації, а також наші члени потребують фінансової допомоги у цей критичний для нас усіх час.
Фундація “Самопоміч“ надала українським церквам, а також молодіжним організаціям, у трьох штатах, в яких обслуговує членів, пожертви у розмірі $128,000.
“Самопоміч“ також отримала грант від Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (з яким Кредитівка співпрацює), щоб пом'якшити наслідки кризи. Цей грант у розмірі $20,000 був виділений церквам, культурним установам та молодіжним організаціям.
УФКС “Самопоміч“ також взяла участь в урядовій програмі, т.зв. Paycheck Protection Program через SBA (Small Business Administration), видаючи позики для малих підприємств та інших установ, щоб вони могли продовжувати виплачувати зарплати своїм працівникам та покривати інші витрати. “Самопоміч“ виділила $3.5 мільйон дол. на SBA позики, з них $864,000 для церков та інших неприбуткових організацій. Якщо всі вимоги пред'явлені урядом будуть дотримані, ці позики мають право на 100% прощення, за умовами Paycheck Protection програми.
Слід також звернути увагу, що за весь цей час діяльність УФКС «Самопоміч» продовжувалась. Члени Кредитівки мали постійний доступ до послуг Кредитівки і своїх рахунків, хоча у обмеженому режимі. Кредитівка також подарувала близько 6,000 масок для роздачі членам та організаціям у всіх Філіях Кредитівки.
На даний час Головне Бюро і всі Філії відновили звичайні години урядування, захищаючи при цьому здоров’я як працівників, так і членів.
Сподіваємось, що наша допомога і праця принесе користь нашим громадським установам, церквам, та всім членам у цей важкий час подолання пандемії. Заохочуємо всіх стати членами Кредитівки “Самопоміч“ та користати з її послуг, щоб Кредитівка й надалі розвивалась та надавала допомогу своїм членам і громаді. Надіємось на краще майбутнє!
