Changes to Your Selfreliance Credit Card:

We are pleased to announce enhancements to the Selfreliance Federal Credit Union's credit cards, designed to elevate your banking experience. These upgrades focus on improved online management capabilities and feature a fresh new card design. Rest assured, the terms remain unchanged—it's still the same great service, now even better.

You will receive a new credit card in the weeks leading up to September 15th, 2024. As of September 15th, 2024, you will no longer be able to use your current credit card and may activate and begin using your new Selfreliance FCU Visa® Credit Card. We are dedicated to facilitating a seamless transition for you during this exciting period of change.

New Online Card Management Features

  • Enhanced User Interface: Enjoy a more intuitive and user-friendly online experience.
  • Spending Summary by Category: Track your expenses with detailed spending summaries.
  • Automated Fraud Alerts: Receive immediate alerts for any suspicious activity.
  • Transaction and Merchant Type Selection: Categorize and track transactions based on where purchases are made, optimizing budgeting and maximizing rewards.

We are committed to providing you with the best possible service, and these new features are designed to give you greater control and peace of mind.

What You Should Know

  • Your NEW Selfreliance FCU Visa® Credit Card with new card number, expiration date, and CVV code will be mailed to you on or before September 15th, 2024.
  • Starting on Sunday, September 15th, 2024, you will need to activate your new card by calling 800-631-3197 from your primary phone number.
  • Your transaction history and statements will not be transferred to the new system. We strongly recommend downloading any required statements before the deactivation date of September 15 to ensure you have the necessary records.
  • You will need to update your recurring payments with the details of your NEW Selfreliance FCU Visa® Credit Card.
  • In addition, we are excited to introduce our new Business Credit Card Program. Stay tuned for more updates!

How to Activate Your New Credit Card

Follow these 3 steps for a smooth transition:

1. Activate Your New Credit Card

Starting on Sunday, September 15th, 2024, activate your new card by calling 800-631-3197 from your primary phone number.

2. Out With The Old

Destroy your old Selfreliance FCU Visa® Credit Card once your new card is activated, as the old card will stop working on September 15th, 2024.

3. Switch

Update your recurring payments with the details of your NEW card. This is a great opportunity to review each subscription and consider whether it continues to serve your needs. If not, it might be a good idea to cancel it to save money.

Services to review: home utilities, gym memberships, streaming services, online shopping accounts, meal delivery services, newspaper and magazine subscriptions, tollway account, cloud storage and software subscriptions.

Why am I receiving a new credit card?
We are upgrading our cards to improve the services we offer you. As a result, a new card will be issued.
When can I start using the new credit card?
Please activate and begin using your new card on Sunday, September 15th, 2024. You will receive full instructions on how to activate your new card in the mail with your new card.
Will my new credit card be delivered by mail?
Yes! If you’re unsure, please call us at 888-222-8571 or visit your closest branch to confirm that your mailing address and contact information are current.
What number should I call to activate my new credit card?
Starting on Sunday, September 15th, 2024, activate your new card by calling 800-631-3197 from your primary phone number.
My existing card does not expire for a while. Can I continue using it until it expires?
No. Your existing card will not work after September 15th, 2024, and you will be sent a new card beforehand. Instructions will come with your new card to ensure it is ready to use on September 15th, 2024.
Do I need to make any adjustments if I've arranged for my credit card payments to be automatically deducted each month via ACH transfer?
Yes. To ensure there is no interruption in automated payments, contact your service provider (i.e., another bank or bill pay service) on or after September 15th, 2024, and provide your new credit card number and payment address.
What do I need to do if I have preauthorized, or recurring payments tied to my existing Selfreliance credit card?
To ensure there is no interruption in recurring or preauthorized payments (such as home utilities, gym memberships, streaming services, online shopping accounts, meal delivery services, newspaper and magazine subscriptions, tollway accounts, cloud storage, and software subscriptions), contact the merchant on or after September 15th, 2024, with your new card number, expiration date, and CVV code.

This is a great opportunity to review each subscription and consider whether it continues to serve your needs. If not, it might be a good idea to cancel it to save money!
Will the transaction history from my old card be transferred to my new card number if needed?
No. You will not be able to access past statements/history online as of September 15th, 2024, so we recommend you save the statements to your computer or print hard copies before this date.
Will my interest rate change as part of this upgrade and card issuance?
No. Your interest rate and other terms on your account will not change.
Will the due date for my credit card payment change?
No. The due date for your credit card payment will remain the same.
Do I need to update my new credit card in my digital wallet?
Yes. Your new credit card will have a new card number, expiration date, and CVV code. If you need help adding your new card to your digital wallet, please visit our website's Digital Banking page for detailed instructions.
What should I do with my old credit card?
You should destroy the old card AFTER you activate and start using your new card.
What if I didn’t receive a new credit card?
If you do not receive a new credit card by September 15th, 2024, please call us at 888-222-8571.
